Kathy Leidheiser is senior vice president - Internal Auditing for Verizon, responsible for risk assessment and internal audits throughout the corporation and its subsidiaries. She ensures that robust and effective governance processes and financial controls are in place across Verizon to make certain the company is in full compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) rules and regulations.

Leidheiser is a member of the Verizon Management Audit Committee and the Compliance Council. She also works closely with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors in developing committee agendas, charters and practices, with a sharp focus on compliance with NYSE, SEC and SOX requirements.

With more than 20 years of experience in financial reporting and accounting at Verizon, Leidheiser has held various finance leadership positions of increasing responsibility since joining the company.

Prior to assuming her current role in November 2006, Leidheiser was executive director of Corporate Accounting, responsible for corporate-wide oversight of the SOX 404 program, implementation of corporate policy statements and the corporate compliance program, and directing the financial close. She has held a number of leadership positions in the Finance organization, including key positions in financial reporting and accounting in the Corporate and Telecom business units.

Leidheiser started her career with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young. She holds an MBA degree in Finance from Villanova University and BS degree in Accounting from West Chester University. A certified public accountant, she has memberships in American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
