Robert J. Barish is the senior vice president and controller of Verizon. He is responsible for corporate wide accounting, financial planning and analysis, business planning, compliance and SEC financial reporting. His responsibilities also include the review and analysis of various corporate acquisition and divestiture projects. Barish also serves as principal accounting officer for Verizon.

From 2006 through 2008, Barish was the chief financial officer of Verizon Telecom. He was responsible for Verizon Telecom’s controller, financial analysis and business planning functions. He was also responsible for revenue planning, revenue assurance and business strategy and development.

From May 2002 through 2005, Barish was vice president, Corporate Finance. He was responsible for the financial planning and analysis of Verizon financial results, short and long term financial plans and managing the development of the business plan and annual budget. His responsibilities also included the review and analysis of various corporate acquisition and divestiture projects.

Previously, Bob was the vice president - Finance, Enterprise Solutions Group with responsibility for financial planning, analysis, management and financial reporting.

Barish began his career in 1983 at New England Telephone where he held a series of management positions in the Finance organization including vice president and chief financial officer - Data Solutions group, executive director - Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, managing director - Finance, New England Telephone States Market Area and director - Corporate Accounting.

Barish received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1983, with a concentration in Accounting from Boston University. He also received his Executive MBA from Boston University in 1994.
